Also i think part of the reason it looks good is because my icon colors blend with the part so since i have some of the stuff set to BG color it might be using mine

Also this is random but do you think blue is easier to build with than other colors?

Well surely there's some reason why creators dont build in red, orange or yellow much... they like green, blue, purple and Grey. Those colors are easier to work with but I dont know the reasons why
Maybe because they look better when dark. Lots of designs revolve around starting with darkness and adding bright details. The warmer colors look uglier when dark

The best thing to do is go into practice mode

i did. twice. about 200-300+ attempts each time

So in the UFO, theres a click pattern for it. I suggest searching up a video of the level so you can learn it.
