I had very similar experiences when I lived in the south, decades ago.
Tennessee & North Carolina. Forced to become a member of the Baptist Church. As teenagers, we would go to church on Sunday, my cousin and I, would say we were going to do some Bible reading, and, a whole gaggle of us would meet up in an abandoned quarry and party our asses off.
I remember going to my Aunt's house, totally obliterated, what did she say? She asked me, how I enjoyed my Bible reading? No joke.
She must of know we were high, but was in such deep denial, that we couldn't be high, she actually convinced herself we were reading scriptures.
My uncle was a Deacon having affairs with church women, everyone was aware, including my Aunt.
My Aunt would have refreshments with her church circle, and plan ways of removing black servers from "their" favorite restaurants, along with other non religious, devious behaviors, a twisted hobby they thoroughly enjoyed.
So yes, I know exactly how the hypocrisy, double standards, corruption, denial, racism, and white Jesus is rooted into the fabric of the south. You're absolutely spot on your description.
I couldn't wait to leave.
