Charlie was a good man. Loved by many. His public talks moved many. His life was good. Until his life abruptly ended with a bullet to the neck. His kids witnessed it, the world witnessed it. The person who did it is a monster who should be put behind bars for life.
We love you Charlie, we hope you can rest in peace knowing all the good you've done.
F**K THE DEMOCRATS.
0 ups, 1d
Lucky for you, he wasn't shot by a Democrat. He was shot by a conservative from a republican Mormon family that was obsessed with guns.

A great f**kin man. Charlie Kirk is the person who originally got me on the side I am in politics, and I am forever grateful for him spreading the knowledge and truth he does. It was needed, and still is. Sadly though, it no longer will be.

Whoever killed him- Democrat, Republican (for whatever reason they might), Anarchist, or Foreigner- had no right to do so. No one has the right to take a life, unless they are defending themself from physical harm. But Charlie Kirk was killed for voicing his opinion. All he hurt was someone’s feelings.

Rest in Peace to him, and I’m praying for his wife and kids. Something like this should never happen, under any circumstances, regardless of who it is or where they sit on the political spectrum.

Despite my political views concerning Kirk's, this is just sad. Nobody in this country deserves death, ESPECIALLY Kirk.
Gun violence not only ends the victim's life, but destroys their family, friends, and loved ones. Quite frankly, I am deeply ashamed for the people that make a mockery of his death and find it absurd that those who claim to stand against gun violence yet praise the death of someone just with opposing political views really devalues what several people and I wish to work for, but hoping that this situation will go away will not prevent future shootings. I didn't love the guy, but Kirk was still a father and a husband, and gun violence ripped him from the arms of his wife and children.

Scapegoating democrats or specific minorities as supporters or contributors to his assassination and/or gun violence in general is a poor judgement. After all, a senator from Minnesota and her husband were shot and killed in their own homes driven by a man with far-right views. It would also be poor judgement to say that all right leaning people support political violence---They do not.

Some people are driven by ambitions that they cannot control and can lead to tragedies like this; most people would (and should) take it to social media or create a verbal argument rather than ending someone's life. That's not how you get your points across. We are America, we fought for the freedom to say what we wanted, we did not fight just so people can kill others who disagree with them.

We should still be able to have the second amendment, but measures must be taken to prevent losing people like Charlie Kirk, Fletcher and Harper (the two children from the Minnesota shooting), and Melissa Hortman (democratic senator) and her husband Mark Hortman. Thoughts and prayers can still be encouraged and uplift some spirits after losses, but that alone won't bring nation-wide issues like gun violence down. We need to do something about it together.

...are we not a United nation?

I've been looking for something to say without sounding too hollow, but it's difficult as I did not know much anything about him. Anyways, even if I was more familiar with him, and I still couldn't write anything matching what you said.

I don't know what's wrong with people. The guy was only 31, not married that many years, two little children. And none of them will get to see him grow old, none of them will get to grow old with him. What in anyone's mind could warrant ending his life and their life with him? How could they think doing something like that would have some sort of justification, any reason?

If someone has such an urge to murder, why don't they sign up for the military or some war abroad, at least make themself useful for a cause?

Anyways, I'm just sounding derpy.

I don't get why people are making fun of the situation either. Especially when they're the ones who claim to be so against killing.

This is a sad thing. Him getting killed is a sad thing.

I have my disagreements with you on this platform, but this was very sweet and kind of you to say. Cheers.

It's possible it was a professional job
Apparently everyone that knew him thought he would be president one day
And he has actual traditional values unlike most modern Republicans, who are just really liberals who aren't pro-communist or Sharia Law or so far-left that they're championing on events like this and saying "about damn time" (I've seen numerous videos saying this and numerous tweets saying 'can we do JK Rowling or trump or Ben Shapiro next?').
He had family values and was so influential that even though I believe we're too far gone as a culture to ever have someone with decent character be POTUS again, I think it would've been possible if it were him. And there are probably people who would not want someone like that to be POTUS.

Anyway, it's such a sad moment in history. Prayers for his family and friends

I would say that I hope he would rest in peace, but those sound like such empty words.

This is so sad, so needless, killing him, killing part of his family.

Not gonna lie...... it is somewhat difficult for me to express empathy, thoughts and prayers, etc here at this point.

I'm almost 100% sure that even if I do...1. it would never be enough for the right. 2. a few hours, days, weeks, or months from now one of them will surely be here proclaiming "you and your ilk celebrated Charlie Kirk's death!" .....🙄

Then when Joe Biden or some other Dem dies, gets killed, or gets his head bashed in with a hammer... they'll be making gay jokes/conspiracies if not blatantly dancing on his grave.

They will be outraged if anyone on the left tries to respectfully call for gun control.... and they will be outraged if nobody does.

Hundreds of people have died this year because of shootings, including Kirk.. But I will at least say it IS a shame and tragedy that this is the current state of America.... and I do condemn the assassination.

Some online have claimed at some point Kirk said "don't let mass shooting victims control the narrative with empathy" ...but... I have not been able to verify that. I have seen him saying he "can't stand the word empathy" though.

You seem sad. Why? This is literally the world you voted for. You wanted anyone to have access to guns.

This is what you wanted.

No. We want the right to bear arms, the mentally ill and criminals should lose that right, which would have prevented this.
0 ups, 1d
The shooter was from a conservative Republican Mormon family that was obsessed with guns. Violence is what you get when you make those people angry.
2 ups, 2d,

Are you sure? Because Republicans rolled back Obama-era regulation that would have made it more difficult for individuals with specific mental health issues to purchase guns.

And they're undoing the Red Flag laws.

In fact, they're making this exact situation easier and easier to happen.
5 ups, 2d,

You seem to misunderstand what "shall not be infringed" and "innocent until proven guilty" means. What we want is people with mental illnesses given treatment in institutions and if they are likely to be violent (due to past behavior prosecuted in courts) have their rights taken away, just like it says in the constitution.
1 up, 2d,
1 reply
ahahah, see? You say you want to keep guns out of the hands of some people, but no, you don't because "shall not be abridged" and you say it's a mental healthcare issue.... YET Republicans also get rid of any sort of healthcare.

'cause personal responsibility or something.

So... no. This is EXACTLY the world you want- anyone can get a gun and use it at any time.
2 ups, 1d,
1 reply
Nope. Republicans want people to pay for their Healthcare if they can. People that have been in found guilty court for violent actions can constitutionally have their rights removed. The key is charging and then enforcing this. Like the subway stabbed of the Ukraine woman. He should have been in jail 14 times over.

So .. can't take away guns and you're not willing to make sure crazy people get the care they need...

Like I said, this is the world you voted for.

We should get guns away form mentally ill. Obviously.

I hope you understand the problem with red flag laws. A person’s constitutional rights are taken away without the due process of having a hearing to defend oneself. Second amendment rights and sixth amendment rights are taken away with just an accusation. No crime is required to have occurred. The concept of innocent until proven guilty is thrown out the window.

Is that the type of freedom you want?
2 ups, 2d,
1 reply
And thus you too want exactly this world- one where anyone can be gunned down. At any moment. At any place.

So don't pretend to be mad, upset, or even sad. Because this is exactly what you've vote for.

Take guns away, people will use knives or some other weapon. If you take firearms away you cannot fight a tyrannical government. England banned guns. They are now banning knives. The tyrannical government is now putting people in jail for memes, or even saying “I like bacon”
Mexico has banned guns and the people cannot fight the cartels. Journalist are killed monthly. Politicians are killed monthly. Citizens are killed monthly in Mexico.
Guns are not the problem. The problem is people raised with no moral compass. People raised without a sense of personal responsibility.

So... Please explain how Charlie Kirk would still be alive right now if even a third of the audience was armed?

How would the MN Speaker of the house and her husband be alive right now if they'd been sleeping with shotguns under their pillows?

And you should look up what actually got banned in the UK instead of believing what you've been told.

It's amazing to me how you don't see the irony in insisting we need guns because politicians get murdered....in a thread about a public figure who was murdered with a gun.

The problem is not the implement. The problem is the person.

Thousands of people a year are killed in DUI accidents. We have laws against drunk driving, yet people still die in DUI accidents. Do we completely ban cars? Do we completely ban alcohol? Driving isn’t even a right, it’s a privilege. The rationale for not banning cars and alcohol is that it’s a risk-reward calculation. That same argument applies with firearms. The risk of deaths caused by firearms is outweighed by freedom from tyranny.

I am.

I hate to burst your bubble.

Critics, however, point to Obama's issuance of 23 executive actions on gun violence in January 2016 as proof that the Democratic president was anti-gun.1 What most fail to point out is that those executive actions contained no new laws or regulations; and they were not executive orders, which are different than executive actions.

"For all the pomp and ceremony, nothing in the president’s proposals is going to put a dent in U.S. gun crime or even substantially change the federal legal landscape. In that sense, apoplectic opponents and overjoyed supporters are both probably overreacting," wrote Adam Bates, a policy analyst with the libertarian Cato Institute's Project on Criminal Justice.

Onama didn't sign a single bill into law limiting the use or purchase of guns.
